About Jackson
Jackson Alvey (he/they) is a contemporary abstract artist born in Dayton, Idaho, and currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Primarily self-taught with some formal art education at the University of Arizona, his work is a heart-led exploration of human experience, drawing inspiration from inner emotional life and the natural world.
Jackson’s work begins with emotion and physical sensation, using intuition as a guide rather than a fixed outcome. He works primarily with acrylic, building layered, abstract compositions influenced by music, personal observation, and elements of the natural world. Many pieces begin in one emotional state and gradually shift into another, reflecting the way inner experiences evolve over time.
His current work explores inner landscapes shaped by anxiety and his experience with OCD, set against the search for healing, grounding, and moments of peace. Alvey aims to create space for nuance and complexity, allowing each viewer to bring their own emotions and interpretations into the work so that every piece can hold a different meaning depending on who encounters it.
