Office of Sustainability
The mission of the Office of Sustainability is to accelerate institutional sustainability and climate action through the collaborative pursuit of student-centered interdisciplinary solutions that are environmentally sound, socially just, and economically viable.
ROLE: Graphic Designer & Social Media Strategist
Overview
In my role at the Office of Sustainability, I designed a wide range of materials, from Email Marketing campaigns to weekly social media posts and educational series, as well as event signage, campus-wide sustainability initiative infographics, and a series of informational rack cards.
Additionally, I provided training to incoming team members for effective use of these assets across platforms. I also created evergreen templates for future content creators on the team, making it easy to generate new materials without needing advanced design knowledge.
Our office ‘mascot’ was a stuffed Pandacorn, so we created a send-off sticker for seniors who graduated out of the office featuring our very unofficial slogan.
Creative Execution
Social Media
70% of my role included content planning and designing weekly posts for the Office’s growing social media accounts. Split into a general office account, and ‘daughter’ accounts for our various initiatives (including a community composting program, and community garden). Alongside creating distinct but cohesive identities for each initiative, I planned and batched content focusing on:
Sustainability Education
Sustainability “Good News”
Highlights and Initiative Features
People Introductions & Team Updates
Event Marketing Materials | Print Design
The Office exists to educate not only the campus community but also the broader Tucson community about sustainability and its application to their daily lives. As such, I was tasked with creating a series of event marketing materials. We created rack cards and brochures for the community garden, composting program, Sustainability Fund, and Sustainability Tour (an opportunity for people to learn about our efforts across campus with a guided tour).
Brand Guidelines
I was tasked with creating unique identities for each of the Office’s initiatives. Built alongside the University’s brand toolkit as a base, we got approval to create unique palettes and & visual elements for each.
